Advice if traveling to KI for the first time 2008/08/14 17:51
We recently retuned from KI a week ago. I will say the isaland is beautiful and we enjoyed out trip. This is just some advice for people traveling to KI for the first time.

If you plan to come to KI with your family, bring food to cook on the grill or wind up paying crazy prices for food that isn't good.
No, take that back, the restauarants on KI are horrible. The village pump was probably the best eatery on KI, so leave them out. I also left out Papa T's where the food is reasonably priced, the ice cream is great, people are very friendly, and everything is affordable.

We were going to go to the Blue Moon to get their 5.00 lunch special, but upon going in and finding at least 20 flies in the men's room and no hand soap, decided against it.

Also, I highly recomend paying the extra to get beachfront or you will find out that the public beach is really small (seriously it might be 70 yards long at best.

Also if you are looking for a vacation with lots of activities, go somewhere else. We plan to return to enjoy KI in Nov. for what it is best for, beautiful scenery, laid back atmosphere and time to spend together away from the distractions of the world.

I agree food is expensive but my family and I camp so grilling is not a problem. Village Pump and Papa T's are excellent also. I wonder what beach you visited as the beach and the State Park is wonderful!
